Weddings on the beach are growing in popularity. They are much easier to plan – nature does all the decorating for you so there isn’t a lot of work to do before hand. Beach wedding dresses run the gamut from absolutely simple, to fabulously stunning. What all beach wedding dresses have in common, however, is that they tend to be much simpler and less expensive than their church wedding counterparts.

Many brides always choose casual wedding dresses for the beach wedding. If this is what you would like, don’t feel tied down to traditional wedding dresses. Look for summer wedding dresses at your favorite department store. After all, these are the designs you like to wear and that look good on you. Be sure to also go less formal with your shoes as well. Many brides wear dressed up flip flops or even go barefoot.

Most brides when selecting casual beach wedding dresses choose to go with styles that have short trains if a train at all. This reduces the drag of the dress and provides a smoother walk down the isle, as well as leaves less fabric directly exposed to the sand as you are walking which greatly reduces the chances of damage. Additionally, unless you are planning to marry in the early part of the day during cooler weather a dress that is strapless or at least short sleeve would be a wise decision. The weather by the water is likely to warm quite quickly, which could leave you sweating profusely and potentially ruin your dress.

Beach brides make up for the absence of a veil by wearing flowers on their hair or using a beautiful headpiece. We can either match this with a simple necklace and teardrop earrings or we can wear a chunky necklace made of gemstones or a grand filigree design. In my experience, a beach wedding dresses in all its sequined and beaded glory does not work well with chunky or beaded neckpieces. On a beach wedding, the more natural you look the better. The key is to not overpower the simplicity of the wedding dresses or defeat the natural sparkle of the beach wedding location.
